May 3, 1944 – December 20, 2022
Of New Lenox, IL passed away on December 20, 2022 with his loving wife and children by his side, at the age of 78. He was born on May 3, 1944 to Patrick Leo Landry and Marie (nee Voet) Landry, in Chicago, IL. Raised in Joliet, IL, he attended Joliet Catholic High School for 3 years before moving to Kansas City, MO and graduating in 1962 from St. Pius X High School. Attended Park College in Parkville, MO. Phil enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in February of 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1969.
Survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Joan (Gustafson) Landry, loving father of Matthew (Keri) Landry and Kirsten (Drew) Terry. Devoted "Papa" to Jakob and Molly Landry, Carson, Cameron and Caden Terry. Also survived by his sister Patricia Baranowski, brother-in-law Maj. Gen. Richard (Gloria) Gustafson (USMC Retired), sister-in-law Janice (Al) Prospero, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Patrick and Marie Landry, sister Kathleen (Glenn) Crabtree and sister-in-law Janet Quas.
Phil had a long career in the transportation industry involving sales and management. He retired from Home Depot as a district supervisor. Formerly a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Joliet, Phil was most recently a member of Peace Lutheran Church, New Lenox. He served the New Lenox community by coaching youth baseball and basketball teams for many years, also serving as a New Lenox Park District Commissioner during the building of the Sanctuary Golf Course. He was a volunteer at the Will County Humane Society for many years. He enjoyed poker games and golfing with friends and family, and especially watching his grandchildren participating in various sports activities. Phil, an avid White Sox fan, was proud of his Marine Corps service and always enjoyed hosting his July 4th celebration with a picnic and fireworks for family and friends.
Memorial Service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church 1900 E. Lincoln Highway New Lenox, IL Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Will County Humane Society or Wounded Warriors Project will be appreciated. Internment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
