Obituary

Passed away with his family by his side, at Lightways Hospice, Sunday, December 5, 2021. Age 77 years. Survived by his children Rick (Peggy) Motta, Robert Motta and Cheryl (Steve) Mathias. Four grandchildren Cole Motta, Jackie Rhodes, Bobby Motta and Carlie Motta. His great-granddaughter Isabella Rhodes. His companion for over thirty years Tia Ashley. Preceded in death by two brothers Louis Motta, Jake Motta and sister-in-law June Motta. His great-granddaughter Isamae Rhodes (2020) Ray was born June 3, 1944 in Joliet to Dominic and Margaret (nee Bertotti) Motta. Graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1963. Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War and a Purple Heart recipient. Ray retired from Commonwealth Edison in Rockdale and in his spare time enjoyed motorcycle riding, golf, walking and bike riding. Attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale. Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. Inurnment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity in Ray's name. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 14th from 10:00 A.M. until time of services.
