Retta Ann Blaha

(nee Whennen)

Passed away peacefully July 26, 2023 in Joliet with her family by her side. Age 71 years.

Retta is survived by her husband of 31 years, Arthur W. Blaha; her only child and daughter, Jenifer Ann Polk; her grandsons, Brandon N. Garcia and Dylan M. Hauck; her sisters, Ruth E. Harris and Rhoda J. Pinkston; her brother, Carl A. Whennen and sister-in-law, Amy S. Whennen; her best friend Linda M. Sowa. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by her parents Clifford L. and Alta J.

(nee Mueller) Whennen and her brother, Walter C. Whennen.

Retta was born May 5, 1952 in Peoria, Il. She attended St. Peter Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Lockport West High School. Retta was an avid bowler at Town & Country Lanes and Rivals Bowl, serving as secretary for the leagues for over 50 years. Retta was a dedicated and diligent letter carrier for the US Federal Government and retired after 30 years of excellent service. Retta was the first female President of the NALC Branch 305 for seven years.

A memorial visitation will be held at Carlson Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Road Joliet, IL. Sunday, August 13th from 2- 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Will County Humane Society, American Cancer Society or Cultivate Behavioral Health and Education would be appreciated.
