Passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Age 63. Survived by his daughter Krista Mehrl of Minnesota, and his mother Emma Mehrl of Shorewood. Several friends also survive. Preceded in death by his father Ernest Mehrl. Received his BS in physics and math from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI; received his Masters of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO in 1983. Served many churches Peace Lutheran Church Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada; Risen Christ Lutheran Church, Plymoth, MI and most recently Our Savior Lutheran Church in Joliet. He also worked as a counselor with Hope Christian Counseling. He enjoyed building model rockets, movies, traveling, reading, and was very proud of his German heritage. Lying in State at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1910 Black Road, Monday, October 5, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. until services at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Loy G. Schlote and Rev. Mark Schultz officiating.
