Obituary

Richard Lee Smith Age 76, late of St. Germain, WI, previously Shorewood IL. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Cleda Smith; his brothers, Ronald and Gerald; his father and mother-in-law, Stewart and Maxine Smith. Survived by his wife Sally (nee Smith); his children, Julie (Trent) Metzger of Dunlap, IL and Erik (Debbie) of Joliet, IL; his grandson, Lincoln W. Metzger; his granddaughter, Reagan F. Metzger; Smith granddogs, Neesha, Dealer, Kenzi, and Kerbi; his brothers' wives, Nancy Marie Smith and Nancy Dale Smith; Also survived by Sally's brothers, Mark (Marcia dec.), Brian (Lori), and Adam (Jean) and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He struggled with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma for 30 years, but Richard, who never smoked, succumbed to lung cancer. He had been retired for 10 years, spending most of those years in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Before leaving Illinois he had been a member of the JJC Community Band and the Joliet Legion Band. Due to COVID protocols the visitation, services, and funeral are for immediate family only. The funeral service will be live-streamed at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home Facebook page on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future for extended family and friends.
