Rita Downing (nee Nolan) Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side September 6, 2017, at her home. Age 81. Survived by her step-daughter Linda (Luis Flores) Downing, grandchildren Carlos and Jennifer Flores, sister Bonnie (late Anthony) Baudino, sister- in-law Sharon Nolan, nieces and nephews Mickey (Dianne) Nolan, Kevin Nolan, Kathleen Kremske, Dana (Scott) Taylor, Brigid (Michael) Sim, Molly (Sean) Quinn, Colleen Nolan; her loving and devoted caregivers Roberta Duncan and April Weems-Lockheart and her cat "Pretty Girl" also survived. Preceded in death by her parents Dominick and Almeda (nee Leadingham) Nolan, her loving husband Charles Downing, brothers Dominick T. Nolan and James E. Nolan and her sister Janette L. Nolan. Rita was an excellent painter and a skilled seamstress, an avid lover of nature she especially loved tending to her flowers and gardens. Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Road, Tuesday September 12th at 11:00 A.M. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until service at 11:00 A.M.
