Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the age of 89.
A devoted family man, he was married to his high school sweetheart Carol M. Terdic (née Jakielski) for 69 cherished years. Together, they raised three children Marikathryn Terdic-Kazak, Lisa (William) Vertin and Michael (Barbara) Terdic.
Robert was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren Gregory (Emily) Kazak, Steven (Adriana) Kazak, Matthew Terdic, and Lindsey (Jimmy) Rosequist. He found immense joy in his four great-grandchildren Mason Kazak, Madeline Kazak, Carolyn Rosequist, and Vito Kazak. He is also survived by his brother Richard Terdic and two sisters Mary Ann Schreiber and Kathy (Frank) Riley, his sisters-in-law Karen Terdic and Rita Flickinger and brother-in-law Donald Jakielski.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary (nee Marvic) Terdic, his son R. Scott Terdic (August 2022) , his grandson Michael Terdic, Jr. (March 2024), and four brothers Ronald, David, Joseph, and Anthony Terdic. His three sister-in-law Leona Terdic, Mary Jakielski and Lois Jakielski and three brothers-in-law Tom Schreiber, James Flickinger and Walt Jakielski.
Born on March 22, 1935, in Joliet, Illinois, Bob was a lifelong resident of the community. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School. Robert dedicated 40 years of his career to Amoco Chemical Company. He was active in his faith as an altar server in his youth at St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a current member of St. Raymond Cathedral.
In his leisure time, Bob enjoyed following the stock market, fishing with is son's, son-in-law, grandchildren and brothers and embarking on cruises with Carol, with whom he shared over 23 memorable journeys. He was especially devoted to helping care for his challenged grandson, demonstrating his deep love and commitment to family. Bob loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Bob's family would like to thank Lightways Hospice for their care and kindness.
Funeral services will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., on Wednesday, October 23rd, at 10:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 415 N. Chicago St., at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
