passed away peacefully Monday, December 20, 2021 at Light Ways Hospice Home, with his loving family by his side. Age 97.
Robert was proud Veteran of the US Navy, serving on two ships in WWII defending his country. One of his greatest joys was participating in the Honor Flight in 2014 with his dear friend Joseph May. He was employed and then retired from Certified Grocers of Illinois after 35 years of service.
Preceded in death by his step-daughter Mary Blackburn.
Survived by his loving wife of 44 years Lee (Eber) Faillo, his son Robert (Deb) Faillo, his daughter Barbara (Lawrence) Olszowka; step-daughters Laurie (Barry) Corbin, Carol (Bill) May, Gail (Pat) McNamara and Chrissie (Jay) Blair. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive.
Robert was a self-educated, street smart and a hardworking man. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and other gadgets. Robert was charming with a great sense of humor, and lovingly raised two families. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road in Joliet on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 12 noon with Rev. Dick Wisdom officiating. Inurnment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
