Robert "Old Grouch" Goetz, born January 10, 1932 in Kansas City, MO, passed away February 9, 2022 in Joliet, IL at the age of 90. He like to be called "Old Grouch" but he had a gentle soul. He always had a smile, great sense of humor, and was very personable. Even though his failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart left joy for all of us who knew him.
Grouch loved to talk about his days in the military. He was in the Army where he served his country during the Korean Was. Later, he served in the Air Force as an Equipment Specialist. This led to his career in electronics for the next 60 years. He enjoyed having his wife by his side as he traveled to his numerous accounts throughout the surrounding states.
Later in his life, Grouch enjoyed sitting in the yard with his companion, Joan and their dog Angel. He enjoyed reading western novels and doing puzzles. He proudly served as an Honor Guard for Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery and was a member of the American Legion Post #1080 in Joliet.
He is survived by his two sons, Robert (Julia) and Ronald (Shannon), brother-in-law Felix Bleyenberg, good friend Julie Baca and 26 grandchildren.
In addition, he is survived by his companion of 11 years, Joan Moore, along with her 8 children, spouces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert is proceeded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Jane Goetz, his mother, Elizabeth Smith and step-father James L. Smith
