Passed away peacefully, at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, Thursday, May 27, 2021. Age 78 years.
Survived by his wife of 53 years Virginia (Sitar) Lemke, his children Robert Richard (Susan) Lemke, Michael John Lemke and Michele Marie (William) Mata, grandchildren Robert M. Lemke, Julie A. (Michael) Cembala, Michael J. (Sarah) Lemke, Connie E. Lemke, Billy (Meg) Mata, Joe Mata and Tony Mata. Four great-grandchildren, one sister Joan Marie (Harry) Kardash and brother-in-laws Frank (Leanne) Sitar and Marlene (Gerald) Murphy. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Robert and Evelyn (Roth) Lemke.
Robert earned two Bachelor Degrees in Physics and Nuclear Engineering and a Master's Degree in Business Administration. He retired from Commonwealth Edison after 30 years. Longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, he was as a Steward of the church, spending a lifetime of serving the Lord.
Robert loved spending time with his family, especially fishing in the north woods of Wisconsin. He was a generous and giving man. He had a love for reading and publishing articles. A beloved father and papa he will be missed.
Lying in state at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1910 Black Road, Thursday, June 3rd from 9:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Loy G. Schlote officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice Home will be appreciated.
