Rosetta M. Ford (nee Flick) – age 81, from Joliet, Illinois passed away peacefully Friday, January 7, 2022, at Lakewood Nursing Home in Plainfield, Illinois.
Rosetta grew up in Paw Paw, Michigan, and moved to Joliet, Illinois after she met the love of her life and best friend, Paul Ford, who preceded her in death. She was a devoted mother to four children, Cheryl (Eric) Darcy, Paula (Joe) Bravo, Jeff (Lynn) Ford and Jennifer (Chris) Dunlap. She also enjoyed being a grandma to Nicholas, Alana, Melissa, Alexis, Jessica, Trevor, Caitlin and Ian, as well as great-grandma to Magnus and Allistaire. In addition to her family, she dedicated her life to teaching others from children to adults. Most of her teaching years were spent as a First-grade teacher in the Plainfield Public School System. Because of her love for reading, she eventually stepped away from the traditional classroom, and trained as a Reading Recovery teacher. After retiring from the Illinois Public Schools, she moved down to Rogers, Arkansas where she was a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader. From there, she moved to Missouri City, Texas where she continued to educate teachers at the college level as well as in the public school. Rosetta's extensive knowledge of the Reading Recovery Program elevated her reputation in the education field and brought her back to Illinois where she continued teaching adults and finished her teaching career. Rosetta loved to travel all over the world, spend time with her grandchildren, and had a strong faith in God as Rosetta loved singing in the choir, serving on the altar guild, and helping with Sunday school at church. Rosetta had a kind warm heart who found the good in everyone. She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
