Ruth E. Oyer (nee Grieser) died peacefully in her home on January 12, 2021 in Joliet, IL at the age of 87. Ruth is survived by her children, Scott Oyer (Christine), Julie Jaskowiak (Jeffrey), her grandchildren, Suzanne Oyer, Bradley Oyer, Alyssa Jameson (Christopher), Matthew Oyer, Luna Jaskowiak (Heather), Janina Jaskowiak, Gabriel Jaskowiak, James Matthew Jaskowiak, and great grandchildren, Emma Jaskowiak and Titus Jameson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C Oyer. Ruth was born on February 14, 1933 in Beemer, Nebraska to Simon and Lovina Grieser. She married Melvin in 1953. They moved to Joliet in 1959, where they raised their two children. Ruth was active in all school activities and delighted in serving wherever she could. They joined First Presbyterian Church in 1979, where Ruth also spent much time serving. She was in the choir and the day deacons, eventually becoming the administrative assistant for many years. Ruth was also an active member of P.E.O. and Kings Daughters. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church Monday July 26, 2021 at 6 P.M. Memorials can be sent to the Joliet Area Community Hospice at 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431. The family would like to thank all the hospice staff for their care and dedication.
