Ruth L. Platt (nee Kaldem) – Passed away peacefully at Silver Cross Hospital with her loving family by her side, Saturday, September 5, 2015. Age 81 years. Survived by her loving husband of 62 years, John Platt, four sons Tom (Anna) Platt, Terry (Karen) Platt, David (Michelle) Platt and John (Diane dec.) Platt. Six grandchildren Steve Platt, Alan (Jennifer) Platt, Amy (Shaun) McNeff, Jennifer (Cory) Dimmitt, Kevin Platt and Marissa Platt. Seven great-grandchildren; also surviving by a loving sister Kathryn "Kay" (James) Pitcairn. Preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Celia Kaldem. Two sisters Margaret (Ben) Mutz and Lois (James) Parthum. Lifelong residence of Joliet, she worked as a cook for Joliet Catholic High School and Joliet Township High School for many years. Ruth was a lover of sports, especially the Cubs; she never missed her kids or grandkids sporting events, family and her neighbors were very important to her. She was an avid reader, she loved playing canasta and enjoyed making Kumla for her family. Fishing at Lake of the Ozarks was one of her favorite things to do. She will be missed by her loving family and friends. Memorial Services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd, Friday, September 11 at 11:00 A.M. Private Inurnment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation Friday from 9:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 A.M.
