She was raised in Midlothian and Joliet, attending St. Christopher Catholic School and St. Bernard Catholic School. Shortly after their marriage, George entered the United States Army and was deployed to Frankfurt, Germany, where Sandy joined him. Upon returning to Joliet, they made their home and raised their family. Sandy was a devoted and loving mother to their children. After raising her family, Sandy worked for the Head Start Program, where she continued her caring nature by helping young children and families in the community.
