Sharon K. Russell (nee Gebhardt)

Passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Lightways Hospice at the age of 84 years.

Survived by her children James Angel, Kimberly Birtas, Suzanne (Daniel) Hogan, Stephen (Barbara) Russell, Allison Hamerla and Charles Russell. Fourteen grandchildren Amanda, Jarred, Jimmy, Adam, Kaylie, Joshua, Brittany, Alexandra, Stephen, Brandon, Charli, Isaac, Delani and April and thirteen great-grandchildren. Her sisters Kathi (Philip - deceased) Petersen, Pam (Ron) Brazeal and Caroline (Bill - deceased) O'Crotty.

Preceded in death by her parents Henry and Katherine Gebhardt. Three brothers Daniel Gebhardt, Terrance Gebhardt and Randy Gebhardt in infancy.

Sharon was born September 7, 1941 in Joliet and grew up in the Ingalls Park area of Joliet, where she loved to roller skate, poodle skirts, cheeseburgers, milkshakes and attend sock hops. She retired from Stepping Stone Addiction Counseling after 20+ years. Sharon dedicated her life to counseling many in the community and many came to her throughout her life for her wisdom. Sharon loved Jesus and was a former member of First Assembly of God Church. Sharon enjoyed reading, especially about political and current events. She also enjoyed being active in prayer groups and bible studies. Her artistic talent was home decorating, furniture painting and various arts and crafts, with a deep appreciating of Norman Rockwell paintings.

Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2302 Black Rd., Friday, February 6th from 3:00 P.M. until services at 6:00 P.M.
