Obituary

STANLEY FLINCHUM It is with deep sorrow, and much love that we mourn the passing of Stanley J. Flinchum (Bud) 63, of Shorewood after losing his hard-fought battle with cancer on October 3rd, 2021. Born to paternal father Raymond Lee Brophy and Reisha Rhodes (Seliga) in Aberdeen, Maryland. Growing up he was raised by Stepfather Richard (Dick) Flinchum. Stan lived a great life and was so proud of the many things he did and accomplished. Immediately after high school in 1976 he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he went on to travel the world serving his country. After 20 years in the USAF, he retired with a honorable discharge as a Tech Sargent. Soon after he laid down roots in the Chicagoland area, raising his children and doing what he loved most, boating, fishing and camping. Stan was an avid lover of the outdoors. He led his son and many other young men through Boy Scouts where he was a Scout Master for many years. He also led his 2 daughters through Girl Scouts. He did it all! One of Stans best qualities was his laughter and silly jokes. He never passed up the chance to drink gin and tonics and dance the night away with the love of his life, Joanne. Stan worked his whole life, bettering himself and his education. In addition to obtaining telecommunication certifications, he obtained his Associate's degree for Liberal Arts from Robert Morris College and a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from Governors State. He worked in telecommunications working for Comcast for many years. Thereafter, he ran his own independent company and was currently employed with Granite Communications. Stan was a Son, Father, Grandfather, and a Great Friend to many and he will be dearly missed. Survived by, loving partner of 22+ years Joanne Nilles, Daughter Stephanie Dowling (Robert) Son Jackie Flinchum (Christa) Daughter Heather Mendes (Kai) Brian Jurczyk (Jenette) Jennifer Thom (Matthew) Grandchildren Conner and Haven Sylves, Finnegan Dowling, Emmalyn, Hunter, and Kayla Flinchum, Amiyah Harlan, Kalae, Kona and Kawailani Mendes, Genevieve and Juliana Jurczyk, Victoria and Alexander Thom.
