Obituary

DUE TO THE SEVERE WEATHER FORECAST THE FUNERAL SERVICES HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2019 Theodore "Ted" J. Giovanini Age 78 years, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 with his daughter, Paula Jean by his side. Born in Joliet on August 5, 1940 and a life-long resident of Joliet. Ted was employed at Stone Container for over 40 years and also as an umpire for over 40 years by the Joliet Park District, where he was known as "Teddy the Legend". He was an avid collector of Elvis Presley memorabilia. He was a dedicated Chicago Cubs Fan. "Papa" loved to attend and watch his grandson's ballgames. Ted will be remembered as a helpful neighbor to many as well. He was a long-time member of the First Lutheran Church in Joliet. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Violette (2-18-18); his precious son, Robert (1-28-84), grandson Stephen Soland, sister Marie Escobedo and his brother John Giovanini. Survived by his daughters, Jodi McLaren and Paula Jean (Ben) Babich; his step-son, Jim (Kathy) Soland; his step-daughter, Cindy (Steve) Eaton; 12 grandchildren, Nathanial, Theodore, Benjamin, Brandon, Amanda, Alyssa, Christian, Jaklyn, Kyla, Jen, Janice and Keith; his sister, Loretta Olerva. Visitation for Theodore "Ted" Giovanini will be held at the First Assembly Church, 1741 Essington Road, Joliet on FRIDAY FEBRUARY 1, 2019 from 9:00 AM until time of services at 12:00 Noon. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet. Arrangement have been entrusted to the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home of Joliet.
