Velma "Jean" Paterson – passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at her home. Age 89. Survived by her five children Robert (Linda) Paterson, Kay (David) Johnke, David Paterson, Pamela (Lawrence) Grycko and Anna (Raymond) Buell, her brother Kenneth Colegrove, sister-in-law Virginia Colegrove and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years Robert H. Paterson, parents Clarence and Myrtle (Kramer) Colegrove, her sister Joyce (Robert) Ganz, brother Roy Colegrove, sister-in-law Adrienne Colegrove and grandson Robert K. Paterson Jr. Member of the Grundy County Rod and Gun Club. She enjoyed camping, fishing and bingo. Velma never knew a stranger, she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. The family would like to thank Velma's amazing caregivers for the exceptional care she received. Funeral services will be at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Thursday, September 16, at 12:00 P.M. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery.
