Violetta Mae Haglund (nee Gibbons) – Passed away on February 7, 2021. Age 97 years. Violetta was born at home on a dairy farm in Lemont, IL to parents Amy S. Gibbons and George W. Gibbons. She had a full and interesting life. Graduated from Plainfield School District 202, married her husband of 46 years, Robert L. Haglund in 1943. She worked most of her life as a waitress, Insurance Agent, Real Estate Agent and Broker, and a CNA for 30 years. She was the first woman in Joliet to obtain an insurance agents' license for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and still found time to be a Den Mother in scouting and raise four children. Survived by her sons, Frank (Cheryl), Roger (Cindy), Kenneth (Phoebe) and daughter Nancy (Doug); 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Lorraine (George) Gibbons. Preceded in death by her husband Robert Haglund; sons, Robert L. Jr., and Joseph; sister Amy (Alister) Rutherford, brothers Frank (Sybil) Gibbons and George Gibbons. Private family services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorials to Joliet Area Hospice in Violetta's name will be appreciated.
