Virgil E. Peck
Age 78, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at the Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet.
Survived by his loving daughters, Annette (Tim) Waldvogel and Cheryl (Jason) Kuriger; his grandchildren, Timmy, Danielle and Allison Waldvogel, Hannah and Chloe Kuriger; his sister, Marilyn Formenti; his brother, Deon (Ruth) Peck; his sister-in-law, Sharon Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Diana L. Peck (nee Naiden) (2021), his parents, William and Beulah Peck; his in-laws, Edward and Eula Naiden; his sister, Verda Peck; his brothers, Bobby and Murrie Peck and a brother-in-law, James Anderson.
Virgil was an honorably discharged Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed for over 30 years with Caterpillar at the Aurora Plant before retiring. He was a devoted husband, loved his family and was incredibly proud of his grandchildren. He was a Mopar muscle car enthusiast, owning many over the years. You would always see Virgil in his Dodge Ram Truck. An avid story teller, Virgil will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home and Crematory, 2320 Black Road on Sunday, September 3, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Military Honors for Virgil will be conducted on Monday, September 4, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Following the military honors, both Virgil and Diana will be laid to rest together at the cemetery.
