Passed away peacefully after a brief illness Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Age 84. Survived by his loving wife of 50 years Dorothy (Nee Phillips) Corniels; two children Dan Corniels and Jill Knight. Four grandchildren Brandon and Austin Corniels and Dana and Nathan Knight. Sister Norrita (Ron) Miller and a sister-in-law Ruth Phillips. Preceded in death by parents Walter and Edna (nee Monkamier) Corniels. Graduate of Lockport Township High School. Faithful member of the Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, the Lockport VFW Post #5788. Veteran of the US Army. Retired from Great Lakes Towing. Loyal Chicago Cub Fan and an avid reader. Memorial services will be held at the Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, 925 E. 9th Street, Lockport, Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Inurnment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials church or Joliet Area Community Hospice will be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church from 10:00 AM until time of services.
