Wayne R. Nevsimal

Passed away at St. Joseph Medical Center, Monday, September 7, 2026 at the age of 77 years.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Cynthia Y. Nevsimal and beloved daughter Rachael Nevsimal. His cousins Kathy and Phil Restivo, Randy Nevsimal, Lynn Thomas, Chuck, Steve (Jayne) and Eileen Dobes. Two nephews Ryan Murphy and Brian Habing, two nieces Joy Lindquist and Jill Johnson, and was a great-uncle to ten nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents Rudolph J. and Eleanor A. Nevsimal. His many aunts and uncles including Charles (Dorothy) Dobes, Jim (Lil) Nevsimal and James (Mary) Dobes. Two cousins Jim and John Dobes. His sisters-in-law Marilyn Murphy and Sharon Habing, and father-in-law Leonard Yost.

Wayne was born on August 4, 1949, in Chicago and grew up in North Riverside, Illinois. He graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School and later earned a business degree in transportation and logistics from Tri-State College.

Throughout his career, Wayne coordinated logistics for several companies, including Edward Don & Company, West Agro, and Successories. He retired from Budget Golf in 2019.

Wayne was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. An avid sports fan, he faithfully followed the Chicago White Sox, San Francisco Giants, Florida Gators, and college football. He enjoyed competing in fantasy baseball leagues and spent many years bowling in various leagues. Wayne also coached women’s softball in Forest Park for several years. Throughout his life, he had a special affection for cats and was devoted to caring for them.

Wayne was a man of strong faith. He loved to make people smile. He was so fond of his neighbors and neighborhood. Wayne fought the good fight and will be dearly missed by many.

Visitation will be held at Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Road, Monday, September 14, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wayne will lie in state at Messiah Lutheran Church, 40 Houbolt Rd. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Reverend Kurt Hoover officiating. Memorials to Messiah Lutheran Church, Salvation Army or American Cancer Society will be appreciated. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park II, Joliet, IL.
