Mike is a second-generation funeral director with Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home and the principal Owner/Managing Director. Mike is proud to continue his family's commitment to offering skilled and compassionate funeral service to families in need, in the memory of his father, Robert A. Sayles, one of the founding partners of the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home. Mike has dedicated his entire 42 year professional career to the firm and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. As a reflection of his commitment to offering caring final arrangement alternatives, he is pleased to have brought cremation capabilities to those families who prefer them.
Mike is a life-long resident of Joliet, having graduated from Joliet Township West High School. In 1988, he obtained his Mortuary Degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. In addition to his responsiblities at the firm, Mike is the President of the Will County Funeral Directors Association, past Vice-President of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association, former board member of the Illinois Funeral Ethics Committee and former President of Oakwood Cemetery in Joliet. His memberships include the Joliet Noon Lions Club, Joliet Regional Airport Board Member, as well as the President of Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory. He regularly contributes to a weekly radio program on WJOL Friends over Fifty. Mike is a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Mike is the proud father of his two sons Nicholas (Lauren) and Michael (Kenya). Nicholas is an Aviation Project Manager with the Georgia State Department of Aviation. Michael is a Fireman/Paramedic with the Gwinnett County Fire Department in Georgia. Mike is the proud grandfather of two granddaughters, Clarke and Lainey. Outside of the funeral home, Mike's interest include flying, as he is an avid pilot, stained glass, and traveling.

Marysue has been a member of our staff for over a decade. She has over 29 years of experience within funeral service. Marysue is a life long Joliet resident and a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond. In her spare time she enjoy's needlepoint, walking and spending time with her three children Maureen, Kevin and Katherine.

Dave joined our staff in September of 2023. He is a dedicated lifelong resident of Joliet. He retired in 2021 after serving a combined 26 years with the East Joliet and Joliet Fire Departments as a firefighter/paramedic. He is a veteran who proudly served in the United States Air Force. He has been married to his wife, Sheri, for 23 years and the father of one son, 3 step children, and the grandfather of 9. Dave is also one of the founding members of the Joliet Firefighters Pipes and Drums, in which he has played the bagpipes for hundreds of memorial services and ceremonies honoring loved ones lost. His compassionate nature also guided him to be a dedicated volunteer for Lightways Hospice for 10 years where he providing comfort care and a hand to hold for patients in their final moments of life. Dave also performed recognition ceremonies for military veterans, thanking them for their service to our country. When asked-why work at a funeral home- Dave responded, “I consider CHS a sacred place! This was the last place that I was able to see my father, grandparents and many other relatives and friends! Our family was always treated with the utmost respect and dignity. After seeking part time employment after my retirement from the fire department, I knew that this was where I needed to be! I have a special place in my heart for everyone that walks through the door seeking memorial services for their loved ones.”

Gary has been with the Carlson Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home since 1999. Throughout his secondary career, he has proudly served as a Funeral Directors Assistant in the Joliet area for 44 years. Gary is a 1970 graduate of Joliet East High School. Gary is a retired 29 year veteran of the East Joliet Fire Department and 36 year employee of Caterpillar. Gary is a devoted and active member of the Masonic Fraternity, entering his 45th year, in which he has been the past Master of the Matteson Lodge in Joliet, Master of the Lockport Masonic Lodge, and currently is an active 32nd degree Mason of the Chicago Scottish Rite. One of Gary’s most noble honors is being the Masonic Funeral Coordinator for the Northeast area. Gary currently resides in Crest Hill and enjoys spending time with his daughter, 2 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and collecting toy firetrucks and Masonic aprons.

Dawn has been with the Carlson Holmquist-Sayles family since 2021, serving as the Aftercare Community Manager. She was born and raised in Plainfield and where she currently resides with her husband of 28 years, Ed. She enjoys spending time with her 3 children and 5 grandchildren. In addition, Dawn enjoys traveling and exploring great dining experiences as often as possible. She was previously employed as a Legal Assistant for over 35 years with a Family Law firm in Joliet.

Craig is also a fire fighter with the Joliet Fire Department and a member of the Joliet Fire Department Honor Guard and Dive Team. Craig has two sons.
